Brushed, polished and matte finishes: what each stainless steel finish is good for
The same material looks completely different, and ages differently, with a different surface finish. The finish should be chosen according to where and how the piece will be used.
Brushed finish
It has a fine-lined, silky look. It shows fingerprints and small scratches less, which is why it is much preferred for heavily used furniture and counters.
Polished (mirror) finish
It is reflective and showy. On the other hand, it shows fingerprints, stains and scratches sooner. It works better on decorative pieces that are touched less.
Matte finish
It diffuses light and doesn't glare. It gives a calm, modern look; like the brushed finish, it hides marks well.
Quick summary
For heavy use and easy care, a brushed or matte finish makes sense; for emphasis and showiness, a polished finish. If you have a reference image, share it and we'll settle the finish accordingly.
